French patisserie table with marble top now in store!

Look what we are proud to have in our store, a 19th century period French iron, brass and marble patisserie table! These are very, very rare. In fact, this is the first such patisserie table that we have ever had. It dates to around c.1860. Again, I kept this one a little bit of a secret, I didn't want to spoil all the surprises from our shipment.

Look at the age to the iron and brass work...and the marble top is original.

It is such a special piece, I am sure someone is going to fall in love with it (or a few people, maybe, myself included!).

These tables look great as an island bench in a kitchen like this one. I can just imagine making croissants or rolling some pizza dough on the age worn marble. Sigh...

Or using it as a decorative side table in a lounge room or entryway. I love the glass domes displayed on this piece.

And just as special is this marble topped patisserie counter. It too is French and dates to around c.1880. It has a painted pine base.

At the moment we have displayed a collection of French glass domes and white porcelain upon the marble top. Now all we need is a few little pastries under each dome!

antiques, wedding dresses, pompoms and a patiserrie on high street, malvern

I couldn't resist more antique hunting on High Street, Malvern in Melbourne. I love the carousel horse and the decoy ducks which have been mounted onto a work bench. And I am always drawn to copper pans.

A chai latte and a pastry outside Phillippa's helped with energy levels to continue window shopping. Phillippa's had their Melbourne Cup menu on display on a blackboard out the front...it sounded delicious!

There are numerous wedding gown boutiques on High Street, Malvern. A bride-to-be's dream!

I was taken with these pompoms which were made out of hessian, rather than the traditional tissue paper. They had a very earthy feel to them.

The light in this shop, above, was beautiful. All items were meticulously displayed.

A French inspired home wares store had some pieces for sale out on the street. Very European. And everyone enjoys a good fossick, or is it just me?

Cupcake paradise at "Sweet Envy", Hobart!

Last week I had a joyful experience at the new patisserie Sweet Envy in North Hobart, Tasmania. Owned and run by ex Gordan Ramsay patissier Alistair Wise and his partner. I had a berry tart (it was very hard too choose, there were so many beautiful sweets) and a hot chocolate at a vintage painted table whilst admiring all of the beautiful cakes and pastries surrounding me. The interior is wonderfully decorated - in one window there are painted stepladders and mini-birdcages housing cupcakes (below)...so sweet! As far as I am aware, it is Alistair's partner who is responsible for the cake decorating. She does the most amazing wedding cakes I have ever seen. Perfectly presented cupcakes and from $3.50, they are hard to resist!
