amazing london kitchen and photographer

Photos: Paul Massey
This is such an amazing kitchen. It belongs to Paul Massey, London photographer. He obviously has a knack for interiors too! I particularly like the contrast of the rustic butcher's block with the predominantly white setting. I also like the what I assume is a pantry cupboard, painted grey with timber coming through.

Just string on a parcel...it looks so good! Another great antique cupboard in the background.

Great stack of French linen towels. We can never have enough of these in our store! (Or at home...) Wonderful imagery (and chairs).

More string, along with an antique French mirror, plus a jar of shells. Sometimes I wonder whether I should have little areas that are picture perfect...but this is an unrealistic goal. Ultimately I think it best to surround one self with loved and found objects, then things will be perfect.

  1. Hi Tammy,

Yes, I've admired Paul Massey and his work also. I am particularily in love with both of those blue cupboards. They certainly add the finishing touches to both rooms.

I think Paul's home is a great study in the utarian being the decorative....instead of accessories that are there but are forced looking.

Was wondering how you go, being surrounded with beautiful things all the time, how do you control what goes home? Do you worry about over accessorising at home with lots of things or are you quite controlled???

I have read about people collecting this and that and then they reach the point that if they bring something new home then something has to go..... Am loving calling in and reading your blog. Keep up the good work.

  3. Aaahhhh....yes. How do I resist? How do I not take too much home and be surrounded by clutter? I guess for me it is trying to find a balance between wanting a great shop and a nice home. And surprisingly the shop often comes first! We are often so pleased to secure a wonderful item for the shop that it doesn't even occur to us to want to own it ourselves. Or in some strange way, we are temporary custodians of EVERYTHING that comes into the shop. Some things we look after or own for longer than others. Every now and then there is a piece that sits in the shop that I absolutely love and when I can't bear the risk any further that it may sell any day, I have to put a sold sticker on it. That is what happened with my French iron garden table that is now in my loungeroom. To avoid too much clutter at home, I like to have groupings of related objects, often organised on a shelf or in a cabinet. But a little bit of clutter does not hurt anyone! I hope this answers your question Janine...

  4. It is a gorgeous kitchen! I believe it's used for Sophie Dahl's new cooking show, and who also has a new cookbook out - The Voluptuos Miss Dahl. All stuff I've learnt through the wonderful blog world. Love the look of those French linen towels!

  5. Hi Tammy,

Yes, this does answer my question, thanks ever so much for taking the time to answer me! I can certainly see where you are coming from in relation to the shop and to your home and how you separate the two (I think most interior shop owners feel this way) and being custodian's of all the beautiful things you have in your shop, and even though I haven't had a lot of time yet to go back and read all of your postings, I have read the one about the table you bought home for your loungeroom...I have often admired these beautiful tables in magazines etc., I think it looks stunning in your loungeroom, BTW.

Hope you have a great start to your week.
